The Steve Fund is working to pilot an innovative online emotional support service focused on students of color. The service is being created in partnership with 7Cups.com, a platform matching volunteer listeners with individuals seeking support, community, and dialogue. Starting February, the new service, YPoC@7Cups (“Young People of Color @ 7Cups) is available on the 7 Cups platform for students of color seeking emotional support and volunteers who wish to provide such support.
“With YPoC@7Cups there will be an emotional support service that has a direct and immediate benefit to all students of color anywhere,” said Evan Rose, chairman of the Steve Fund.
“Partnering with the Steve Fund is a great opportunity to help students of color dealing with emotional or mental stress,” said Glen Moriarty, the founder of 7 Cups. “At YPoC@7Cups these students will be able to connect with ‘active listeners’ who are especially trained to understand their unique situation.”
To date, this project has recruited over 1,500 listeners.
