Stephen “Steve” C. Rose

Steve was our beloved son and brother. In 2014, a few years after he graduated from Harvard College and then received a Master’s degree, mental illness took him away from us.

As a family, we faced deeply challenging experiences throughout this journey and we know this one thing for certain: we want to spare other young people the pain of mental illness and other families the loss of their beloved children. We feel that institutions of higher education hold a special role in accomplishing this goal, and that as a society we have much work to do to become better prepared to promote young people’s emotional well-being and to support those affected by symptoms of mental illness.
